Ilha f’Malta ħdax-il sena u titħaddet xi ftit jew wisq bil-Malti iżda komda iktar tkellimna bl-Ingliż. Din hija Georgiana Zaharia, omm Rumena vittma ta’ vjolenza domestika fejn illum ħarġet minn martirju li għaddiet minnu u rnexxielha tibni ħajjitha.
Mhux hekk biss, illum tgħin nies għaddejin minn dak li għaddiet hi.
“It took me a couple of years to be back on my legs. You need the proper support, you can’t just get out of it so things need to be changed in the meaning that if they don’t have the proper support why they are in a shelter and they will have to get to normal lives, they will never manage.”
Tispjega kif xi kultant hawn min jiġġudika b’mod ħażin lil vittmi ta’ vjolenza domestika li fi żmien li jkunu għaddejin minnha jinsew malajr u jerġgħu jmorru fi ħdan dak jew dik li tkun qed tagħmel dawn l-atti bla ħniena.
“I’ve been in it 6 years.”
“U f’dawk is-sitt snin ma kienx hemm għajnuna?”
“No I was blocked myself. After 6 years when I went in a shelter then I found the proper help and opened my eyes for a better future for me and my daughters.”
“Dak iż-żmien ma tkunx qed taraha.”
“No you can’t see, you can’t realise what’s going on”
“Għalfejn?”
“You forget, you forgive, you don’t matter, you forget who you are.”
Georgiana Zaharia kienet waħda minn tliet nisa li tkellmu waqt konferenza organizzata mis-Servizzi għar-Refuġjati tal-Ġiżwiti u l-Fondazzjoni għad-Drittijiet tan-Nisa.
Bit-tema ‘In This Together’, Georgiana u oħrajn ħejjew rapport li jitfa’ dawl fuq għadd ta’ sfidi li nisa vittmi ta’ vjolenza domestika u refuġjati jħabbtu wiċċhom magħhom biex iqumu fuq saqajhom u jibdew ħajja mill-ġdid.
F’rapport li ppubblikaw wara tliet snin jaħdmu fuqu, huma jitkellmu kif hemm bżonn iżjed servizzi li jgħinuhom jgħixu ħajja ferm iżjed dinjituża.
Fuq kollox l-omm Rumena li llum tara ferm futur aħjar minn dak il-futur imċajpar li deher quddiemha meta kienet għaddejja minn terrur li deher li m’hu se jieqaf qatt, tappella biex min għaddej minn dak li għaddiet hi, ifittex l-għajnuna.
“Me and my colleagues are doing the best to be their voice and be heard and they should call or through someone that know these things, so they will get the proper help.”
