After a super close qualifying, Ryan Carabott (Williams) dominated the race to win the fourth round of the V1 Malta Series Main Championship Season 6.
In the qualifying, Ryan Carabott (Willaims) secured pole position by just 0.049 seconds ahead of Matthias Farrugia (Alpine). The session was cut short as it started to rain in the final minutes and drivers chose not to go out and drive as they would not improve their lap time.
As the lights went out, Turn 1 witnessed a clean start with drivers maneuvering through smoothly. However, Turn 3 emerged as the trouble spot, setting the stage for gripping confrontations and a flurry of challenges throughout the race. Ryan Carabott (Williams) immediately surged ahead, leaving the rest of the pack in his wake. We had an amazing show as there was a six-car battle for 2nd place between Daniel Cini (RedBull), Matthias Farrugia (Alpine), Adrian Manduca (Alfa Romeo), Brandon Bonello (Ferrari), Osbert Xuereb (Ferrari), Andrea Borg (Mercedes) and Matthew Cassar (Mercedes). A few laps shy from the pit window, a safety car was brought out after an incident. Almost everyone took the opportunity to pit for new tyres. Chaos ensued post-restart as varying tyre compounds created a diverse spectrum of grip levels among the drivers. Amidst this commotion, Carabott’s shone through as he navigated the differing conditions and soared to a commanding victory, crossing the finish line a remarkable 11.6 seconds ahead of the pursuing Matthias Farrugia (Alpine) and Daniel Cini (RedBull).
Ryan Carabott (Williams) was awarded the Driver of the Day Award for his outstanding performance.
After a difficult race, the Ferrari duo and reigning champions, Brandon Bonello and Osbert Xuereb, still extended their lead in the Constructors’ Championship, 10 points in front of Alpine. Manduca managed to tie in points with Bonello in the Driver’s Championship with Farrugia only 2 points behind them.
