Round 2 – San Marino (Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, Imola)
The V1 Malta Series continued its exciting second round at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, also known as Imola, with Brandon Bonello (Williams) dominating the race from start to finish. Bonello secured pole position and showcased a perfect blend of pace and strategy to claim the top spot on the podium and earn the Driver of the Day Award.
The race had a chaotic start, resulting in some position changes and incidents. Drivers fiercely battled for track positions, knowing that overtaking is difficult around this track. The start-finish straight, with the assistance of DRS, proved to be the most fruitful overtaking spot. Throughout the race, there was a constant battle for second place between Adrian Manduca (Ferrari), Jamie Zahra (Mercedes), Mark Grech (Alpine), and Matthias Farrugia (Alfa Romeo). In the last few laps, Manduca started closing the gap on Bonello but ultimately could not catch up to him.
This race was significant in the championship battle, with drivers earning their first points of the season and some managing to improve their position in both the driver’s and constructors’ standings.
