Il-proġett Mindfulness in Schools għandu l-għan li jkompli jqajjem għarfien dwar l-importanza li nagħtu każ mhux biss is-saħħa dik fiżika iżda anke dik inviżibbli bħas-saħħa mentali.
Il-moħħ wara dan il-proġett li qed idur diversi skejjel hija Claire Kelly. Matul il-konferenza Kelly enfassizat li l-ħajja mgħaġġla tal-lum ġġib sfidi oħra li jikkawżaw stress u anzjetà żejda. Hija spjegat: “Finding out a little bit about what it is, what it isn’t, what there is research evidence is about, potential benefits and what it looks like in schools context.”
Mal-200 edukatur minn skejjel diversi kemm dawk tal-Knisja, tal-istat u indipendenti kkonkludew b’suċċess kors dwar il-kunċett ta’ mindfulness.
Claire sostniet: “A main theme of today is that you know life is difficult and stuff happens and we can’t change that. But we can change is how we relate to it. And that can be very liberating in terms of how you experience life generally and certain hangs with life difficulties.”
Il-proġett Mindfulness in Schools ilu għaddej 10 snin. Permess tiegħu tħarrġu mal-5,000 edukatur u mal-450 student ibbenefikaw minn forma ta’ taħriġ jew ieħor. Claire kompliet tispjega: “Our big plan is to try and reach a million minds in the next five years so as a charity we are relying on funding. We are also doing a lot more training overseas because we just been asked to do that. And we are having more focus on early years and also the other end helping schools a pathway to develop a more mindful approach in their teaching and learning.”
Preżenti għaċ-ċerimonja tat tqassim taċ-ċertifikati kien hemm l-Ministru għall-Edukazzjoni Owen Bonnici li saħaq li huwa importanti li l-edukaturi jkunu mħarrġa biex jgħinu lit-tfal jitilgħu rġiel u nisa b’saħħithom mhux biss akkademikament iżda wkoll b’saħħithom psikolġikament.
Il-Ministru Bonnici li qed iżur diversi skejjel madwar il-pajjiż innota li diversi skejjel f’Malta bdew jintegraw il-kunċett ta’ mindfulness waqt diversi attivitajiet u ħidmiet varji oħrajn.
