Mal-kumplament tal-istati membri Ewropej pajjiżna qed iservi ta’ eżempju ta’ kif pajjiż għandu jmexxi l-isforzi ta’ vaċċinazzjoni tiegħu.
Waqt żjara fil-Parlament Ewropew fi Strasburgu ONE News tkellem mal-Ewroparlamentari Portugiża Sara Cerdas li kellha biss kliem ta’ tifħir dwar Malta u l-proċess ta’ vaċċinazzjoni. Filwaqt li awgurat lil Malta għas-suċċess li qed ikollha, l-Ewroparlamentari li hija wkoll tabib qalet kif issa importanti li pajjiżi oħra jimxu fuq il-passi ta’ pajjiżna.
Hija stqarret: “Congratulations for that, it’s very interesting to have one of the member states, I think you have the best vaccination rates in the EU and that is very important to reach this so called herd immunity that we still don’t know what the treshold is, because of the new variants and which vaccines confer the herd immunity, and it is of utmost importance for other member states to follow Malta’s example.”
Dwar il-mira li għandu pajjiżna biex ilaqqam iżjed minn 85% tal-popolazzjoni qalet li din hija mira tajba li għandha tkun it-triq il’quddiem għal pajjiżi membri kollha tal-Unjoni Ewropea. Qalet kif din hija l-unika għodda li biha l-Ewropa tista’ tiġġieled il-virus u tikseb lura n-normalitá.
Hija saħqet: “This should serve as an example, if you have 80% or more of the population immunised the virus won’t circulate, what does that mean, the virus won’t mutate as much because it is not in a big quantity. So that is our chance to win this fight. And why do I say that Malta should be an example for the rest of the world? Because we need to reach other states, other countries.”
Cerdas temmet tgħid kif għalkemm membri stati ikbar jista’ jkollhom sfida iktar diffiċli biex ilaqqmu numri daqstant kbar, hija nnutat kif b’kampanji b’saħħithom ta’ tagħrif dwar l-importanza tal-vaċċin, dawn il-miri jistgħu jintlaħqu.
