Bdiet titlaqqa’ f’Malta it-tieni edizzjoni tas-Summit dwar l-Innovazzjoni li qed tlaqqa’ flimkien Maltin u barranin biex jaqsmu flimkien l-ideat tagħhom fil-qasam tal-innovazzjoni.
Iċ-Chairman tas-Summit Johan Zammit qal li għaddejja ħidma biex dan is-summit jieħduh fuq livell internazzjonali. Huwa qal li dan is-summit huwa “pjattaforma biex inġibu flimkien imprendituri, investituri, fundaturi ta’ start-ups u riċerkaturi biex flimkien jitgħallmu u jaqsmu l-ideat flimkien. L-ewwel edizzjoni kellha 250 ruħ, u din qed tara 400 ruħ u qed nippruvaw neħduha internazzjonalment”.
Fid-diskors tal-ftuħ, il-Prim Ministru Joseph Muscat qal li l-Gvern qed jaħdem sabiex Malta tkompli tavvanza fil-qasam tal-innovazzjoni. Minkejja li stqarr li Malta huwa l-iżgħar Stat fl-Unjoni Ewropea, mhux qed inħarsu lura, u xorta qed naħdmu biex nibqgħu nimxu ‘l quddiem:
“Innovation in legislation, for us and in the way in which we looked at things at the time making ourselves not the periphery of Europe but the centre of the Mediterranean, made it common sense for these companies and huge multinationals in pharmaceutical, garments and in any other sector to transfer themselves to Malta. Then in financial services, then in igaming, now in blockchain and other technologies”.
Dr Muscat kompla jgħid kif Malta qed tkun pijunier f’dan il-qasam hekk kif qegħdin inħejju ruħna għaż-żmien li ġej:
“I do believe that in order to prepare ourselves for the next decade, we need a totally new set of skills we’re not really aware of, and that is what excites us and that’s where we want to experiment and really and truely this is what is getting us going”.
Il-Prim Ministeru saħaq li l-innovazzjoni mhux biss għal ġol-laboratorji iżda hija bżonnjuża fil-mod ta’ kif jaħseb pajjiż u l-politiċi tiegħu:
“Innovation is not just in a laboratory, not just confined to the realms of genuises. I think that innovation needs to be in the DNA, in the way in which a country thinks, in the way in which decision makers think. A way in which we can challenge each other to make a future in which is different from the past”.
Is-Segretarju Parlamentari Silvio Schembri tkellem dwar l-importanza li issa, bħala pajjiż, nesploraw il-possibiltajiet ta’ ekonomiji ġodda, speċjalment fil-qasam ta’ teknoloġiji quantum. Dan hekk kif hemm ċans li Malta tkun l-ewwel pajjiż fid-dinja fejn dan il-qasam ikun ikkummerċjalizzat.
