Dan kien il-messaġġ li wassal il-President tal-Parlament Ewropew Martin Schulz, lejliet meta pajjiżna jieħu f’idejh il-Presidenza tal-Kunsill tal-Unjoni Ewropea.
Tenna li jinsab ottimist li l-presidenza Maltija tal-Kunsill tal-Unjoni Ewropea se tħalli riżultati u żied jgħid li minkejja li pajjiżna hu l-iżgħar stat membru, dan mhux se jservi ta’ xkiel.
Fi kliemu stess: “It’s a good signal. These are challenging times to chair the Council..not only a challenge but a signal. I am very optimistic about the Maltese Presidency”.
Schulz stqarr li pajjiżna se jieħu f’idejh il-Presidenza tal-Kunsill Ewropew f’mument kruċjali fejn l-Unjoni Ewropea trid tieħu deċiżjonijiet ċari dwar x’għandha tkun it-triq ‘l quddiem dwar il-migrazzjoni u il-ħruġ tar-Renju Unit mill-Unjoni Ewropea.
Fi kliemu: ‘Malta is a country led by a Prime Minister who served in the European Parliament, so are looking forward to cooperate with very experienced colleagues, which is not always the case. Working with a Government with such a high level of experience in the European Parliament is already an advantage’.
