L-ammont ta’ bookings minn turisti mir-Renju Unit diġà qiegħed fl-istess livelli tas-sena li għaddiet.
Żvelat dan il-Ministru għat-Turiżmu Julia Farrugia Portelli meta kienet intervistata fil-breakfast show tal-BBC fir-Renju Unit.
Il-Ministru Julia Farugia Portelli: “I got a brief yesterday that travel agents in the UK are telling us that we have reached the same levels of bookings with the British tourists as we had last year. So we are all excited to welcome the British tourists in our country.”
Il-Ministru għat-Turiżmu qalet ukoll li Malta ħadmet bis-sħiħ sabiex fis-sigħat li ġejjin, pajjiżna jkun fuq il-lista l-ħadra tal-Gvern Ingliż għal vjaġġar sigur għal persuni mir-Renju Unit.
Farrugia Portelli fakkret kif pajjiżna kellu suċċess sħiħ biex iġġieled il-Covid-19 tant li pajjiżna kien imfaħħar mis-Segretarju Ġenerali tal-Commonwealth.
Mistoqsija dwar kif Malta tista’ tiżgura dan is-suċċess meta jibdew ġejjin pajjiżi bħar-Renju Unit li kellhom diffikultajiet kbar b’dan il-virus, Farrugia Portelli qalet li pajjiżna huwa ppreparat sew għal kull eventwalità.
Il-Ministru Farrugia Portelli sostniet: “We have the right mechanism in the airport to test each and every passenger through the temperature gauging mechanism but we also understand that as a country we have a strong base when it comes to our healthcare system.”
Ir-Renju Unit huwa l-ikbar suq li minnu pajjiżna jirċievi turisti kull sena.
Fil-fatt is-sena li għaddiet, meta żaru pajjiżna kważi żewġ miljun u tmien mitt elf turist, kważi seba’ mitt elf minn dawn kienu mir-Renju Unit biss.
