Fil-Parlament, il-Prim Ministru Robert Abela qal li l-poplu Ukren m’huwiex waħdu f’dan il-kunflitt.
Dr Abela saħaq kif Malta se tibqa’ tgħin, b’għajnuna kemm finanzjarja kif ukoll umanitarja. Huwa qal li Malta mhix se tibgħat għajnuna militari, b’rispett lejn in-newtralità ta’ pajjiżna.
Il-Prim Ministru qal, “When called up and from our limited resources, we will keep assisting as we have already done, through financial means and also in kind, including through the provision of non-lethal equipment, through the supply of medicines and the supply of medical supplies, whilst also contributing through the European Peace Facility.”
Dr Abela qal li Malta se tkompli tisħaq fuq il-paċi u l-waqfien mill-ġlied, fil-fora internazzjonali. Fl-istess waqt, pajjiżna qed jilqa’ u se jkompli jilqa’ refuġjati Ukreni li qed jaħarbu mill-gwerra.
Il-Prim Ministru Robert Abela qal li, hekk kif bdiet l-invażjoni Russa fl-Ukrajna, Malta waqqfet il-programm ta’ residenza kemm għal ċittadini Russi u anki dawk mill-Belarussja.
Dr Abela assigura lill-President Ukren li l-Gvern Malti, u anki l-poplu Malti, huma wara l-poplu Ukren.
Abela stqarr, “President Zelensky, allow me to once again thank you, to salute your efforts and those of your brave fellow Ukrainian brothers and sisters, of your countrymen who had to leave everything behind them to defend their country, their efforts do not go unnoticed. You are not alone, Malta stands with Ukraine.”
Anki l-Kap tal-Oppożizzjoni, Bernard Grech, esprima solidarjetà mal-poplu Ukren f’dan il-mument u wera appoġġ għax-xewqa tal-Ukrajna li tiġi kkunsidrata biex tissieħeb fl-Unjoni Ewropea.
