Wara l-pandemija globali, l-Unjoni Ewropea għandha opportunità tad-deheb sabiex tingħaqad flimkien biex tixtri f’daqqa l-mediċini kollha bħalma ġara bil-vaċċin tal-Covid-19.
Dan intqal mid-Deputat Prim Ministru u Ministru għas-Saħħa Chris Fearne waqt li kien qed jindirizza laqgħa tal-Grupp tas-Soċjalisti Ewropej li jinsabu f’pajjiżna.
Id-Deputat Prim Ministru semma kif l-għaqda li kien hemm bejn il-pajjiżi Ewropej waqt il-pandemija, waslet biex l-Ewropa kienet minn ta’ quddiem li bdiet tlaqqam iċ-ċittadini tagħha.
Chris Fearne semma kif waħda mill-problemi li qed jaffaċċjaw il-pajjiżi madwar id-dinja hija li aktar kemm qed jgħaddi żmien il-mediċina dejjem qed issir ogħla.
Hawnhekk huwa semma kif meta jixtru l-mediċina bħala blokk Ewropew din tkun irħas, bħalma ġara bil-vaċċin għal kontra l-Covid-19: “There is no doubt that price transparency, joint negotiation and joint procurement manages to bring medicines not only equally across the bloc, across the Union but also cheaper and we never get them cheaper. Then we can get supply more drugs, the budget certainly limited to our patients.”
Min-naħa tiegħu, id-Deputat Mexxej tal-Partit Laburista Daniel Micallef semma l-importanza tal-għaqda fl-Unjoni Ewropea, li din waslet biex pajjiżna kellu programm ta’ tilqim b’saħħtu.
Il-Perit Micallef tenna kif il-Partit Laburista Malti twieled sabiex jiġġieled il-ġustizzja soċjali: “What defines as a Labour Movement is our priorities, how the wealth is distributed – pensions, free medicines, free childcare facilities coupled with investments with our schools, infrastructure with our environment. What’s definite though is that there is much more to be done, that’s what keep us working hard towards a common goal.”
Daniel Micallef semma wkoll kif Gvern Laburista Malti, qed jagħti b’xejn il-mediċina tas-cyctic fibrosis u li waqt pandemija pajjiżna għandu l-inqas rata ta’ qgħad fl-istorja.
Il-President tal-Partit Laburista Ramona Attard qalet kif dan il-Gvern qed jiġġieled l-ugwaljanza, fosthom biż-żieda ta’ nisa fl-irwoli pubbliċi: “What I believe is that we speak a lot about the rule of law quite justly about the rule of law, but for me overcoming inequality is the greatest act of justice.”
