F’sentejn l-Università Queen Mary ta’ pajjiżna, irċeviet elf u mija u ħamsa u għoxrin applikazzjoni ta’ studenti minn madwar id-dinja li riedu jiġu hawn f’Malta jitgħallmu l-kors tal-mediċina qalb il-komunità mediċinali ta’ pajjiżna u biswit l-Isptar Ġenerali t’Għawdex.
Minn dawn l-mijiet ta’ applikazzjonijiet l-Università Ingliża setgħet taċċetta biss 59 applikazzjoni fis-sena skolastika li għaddiet u 57 applikazzjoni f’din is-sena edukattiva li ninsabu fiha.
Dan ifisser li dawn il-mija u 16-il student jew studenta, huma fost l-aqwa studenti bl-ogħla kwalifiċi għal dan il-kors minn madwar id-dinja.
Fatt li anke kkonfermah f’intervista esklussiva magħna l-Professur Anthony Warrens, Dekan tal-Edukazzjoni mill-Fakultà għad-Dentistrija u l-Mediċina tal-Università Queen Mary.
Il-Professur mediku qal kif l-istudenti li qed jiggradwaw minn l-Università f’Għawdex qed jirċievu aktar premjijiet mill-istudenti tal-istess Università bbażata f’Londra, ħaġa li tfisser li minn pajjiż u gżira ċkejkna, qed joħroġu wħud mill-aqwa professjonisti fid-dinja tal-mediċina.
“The students that we’ve got are absolutely first class and you compare them for example the London students with the Malta’s student there is absolutely no difference. In fact, this year a lot of Malta’s students run away with prizes, disproportion numbers compare to the London students.”
Il-Professur Ingliż kellu wkoll kliem ta’ tifħir lejn il-Maltin u l-Għawdxin u l-komunità medika ta’ pajjiżna, fejn qal li dawn l-istudenti barranin, li jħallsu eluf ta’ flus biex jistudjaw f’din l-Università f’Għawdex, jitgħallmu minn taħt idejn professjonisti lokali ta’ kalibru.
“General population very welcoming, particularly the medical profession. The teachers who have been inducting our students have been very warm, they’ve taken a lot of effort in teaching our students and the interactions that by large the students found with teachers and patients have been very positive.”
Fl-università medika f’Għawdex ONE NEWS tkellem ukoll ma’ żewġ studenti tal-mediċina tat-tielet sena, Mina Sameh u Jolie Ashraf, it-tnejn mill-Eġittu, li nnutaw l-effiċjenza fil-qasam tas-saħħa ta’ pajjiżna.
MINA SAMEH: It’s not an easy course and knowing I can turn off and relax and go set by the sea, just have one of the beautiful scenic views. The medical community here is very helpful and being very small it does allow you to interact more easily than in any other country.
JOLIE ASHRAF: I’ve decided to study in Queen University Malta because of the unique combination of world class medical education in such an intimate and supportive environment like Gozo so the small hospital setting allows for health care professionals to be more dedicated to our learning in comparison to bigger and busiest hospitals.
Minn ċifri li kiseb dan l-istazzjon, joħroġ kif minn mindu Queen Mary bdiet topera mill-gżira Għawdxija diġà gradwaw bħala tobba 76 student.
