Mindu f’Ġunju li għadda tnieda permess ta’ residenza biex professjonisti minn pajjiżi terzi jaħdmu b’mod virtwali minn Malta, kien hemm 180 applikazzjoni.
Dan tħabbar f’konferenza tal-Gvern bejn is-Segretarjat Parlamentari għaċ-Ċittadinanza u l-Komunitajiet u Residenza Malta.
Fil-fatt il-Kap Eżekuttiv ta’ Residenza Malta, is-Sur Charles Mizzi spjega kif minn Ġunju kien hemm medja ta’ applikazzjoni kuljum.
L-interess żdied aktar ma għadda ż-żmien.
Qal, “To date we have recieved 180 applications. An average of one every working day. However recently we’ve seen an increase and an influx of more applications that reached our offices and today we are averaging more than one applications per day.”

Il-maġġoranza tal-applikanti għal dan il-permess ta’ residenza kienu ġejjin mir-Renju Unit fejn applikaw 31 persuna u mill-Istati Uniti fejn applikaw 23 persuna. Wara jsegwu 21 persuna li applikaw mill-Indja u 12-il persuna li applikaw miċ-Ċina. Pajjiżi oħra li minnhom persuni ngħataw dan il-permess ta’ residenza huma l-Pakistan, in-Niġerja, ir-Russja, l-Afrika t’Isfel, il-Kanada u l-Brażil.
L-età medja ta’ persuni li applikaw għal dan il-permess ta’ residenza huwa ta’ 37 sena. Il-maġġoranza tal-applikanti jiġifieri 34% fil-fatt għandhom bejn it-30 u d-39 sena. 26% għandhom bejn it-18 u d-29 sena, 20% għandhom bejn l-40 u d-49 sena, 15% għandhom bejn il-50 u d-59 sena u 5% għandhom aktar minn 60 sena.
Mizzi spjega wkoll li filwaqt li l-maġġoranza tal-applikanti huma rġiel kważi nofshom jiġifieri 49% huma impjegati ma’ kumpaniji, 42% huma self employed u 9% jaħdmu bħala freelance.
Qal, “Most applicants work in IT, Managment and marketing but we also have applicants in other industries. Obviously the common element between them is that they can all work remotely. The average income for our applicants is that of €60,000 and overwhelmingly applicants have a degree.”
Minn naħa tiegħu s-Segretarju Parlamentari Alex Muscat tenna s-sodisfazzjon tiegħu għal dan in-numru pożittiv ta’ applikanti għal dan il-permess ta’ residenza.
Spjega, “This niche also carries a low burden as they have as those given a permit need to be covered by health insurance so there is no burden on our national health service and they have to show proof of own accomodation. At the same time the country is attracting new ideas, skills and also talent.”
